This is truly the crown jewel of Selly Oak. I've eaten at a lot of fish bars, and I can honestly say that this one is the best I have been to. Their battered cod in particular is consistently top-quality—flaky textured, flavoursome, and perfectly crisp batter (they even gave me some scraps when I asked). There is almost never any food in the display; they appear to cook to order, which is great. The staff here are lovely and all seem to genuinely enjoy working together. Absolutely love this chippy, we live near by so we go quite often, the staff are so friendly, the food is even better. BUT what I will say is there has been a few occasions where I’ve gone into the shop and the owners ( the ones cooking the food) are talking disrespectfully to the staff working for them in front of other customers, I also find the owners quite rude, not so much as a smile. It’s a shame because everything else is wonderful and it lets it down.
