Very quiet considering city location. Plenty of room,decent double bed 2 chairs desk etc. TV a bit high but plenty of pillows. Staff really helpful. Not bad price per night.

Called in for couple of pints and some food. The food was absolutely shocking. The menu is pathetic. No steak no mixed grill no baguettes no salmon. What a waste of time. We was in a hurry so all 3 of us had fish and chips because the menu was so poor. Couldn't believe it when it turned up. The chips were nearly white the peas were cold and we couldn't find the fish. Just got a plate of batter. I know wetherspoons is supposed to be cheap and cheerful but this was just taking the mick out of customers. Nothing cheerful about it. ​This was the final Wetherspoons in my "Five a Day" challenge. I had originally considered staying overnight in the attached hotel due to a major train delay, and in hindsight, I wish I had! The pristine condition of the interior and the incredibly friendly, helpful staff made this Spoons the absolute "nunatak" (peak) of my day. ​After eventually enduring a brutal, 2+ hour journey home on a delayed Avanti West Coast train with no air conditioning and a 7-year-old, I deeply regret not sticking to my gut and booking that room. I’ll definitely head straight here the next time I'm in Birmingham!

First time staying in a Wetherspoons hotel and I wasn't disappointed. Very friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, and a excellent central location. Combined with the convenient good quality food at reasonable prices, the Briar Rose is now my go-to for Brum visits.
