The food was acceptable, but the service was quite disappointing. I visited the restaurant in the afternoon when it wasn’t very busy. Unfortunately, the service from two younger female staff members was rather cold and unwelcoming. From the moment I started waiting at the entrance, their attitude felt dismissive and inattentive. Visited on Thursday afternoon for haddock and chips. Was immediately sat to the table by the older waitress, she was very polite and well informative to us about any questions or queries we may have. Ordered drinks at the bar, then arrived after the food had been served 3-4 after. Food was alright, not the best. The fish was covered in black bits; clearly from dirty cooking oil. Do they know what a skimmer is? Chips were almost cardboard like. Lucky though we ordered some sides of gravy and curry sauce. The gravy was standard chip shop style. We’ve been visiting Papas for years at multiple locations and have always rated it highly, but our experience at the Blackpool branch on Sunday 2nd Nov 2025 was incredibly disappointing and not what we’ve come to expect. We waited 20 minutes for a table and then another 30 minutes for our food, which is far longer than usual. When our order of four large haddock and chips, and drinks (£73 total) finally arrived, the waiter actually said “four medium fish and chips”, along with the very small portion sizes on the plates I told him that they weren’t what we ordered.
