The pub was built in 1853 as part of Brockley’s suburban expansion in the 19th century. The architecture is classic Victorian, featuring an unusual one-storey extension to the side. This is a good-sized, traditionally decorated one-bar pub with a central horseshoe-shaped servery. Relatively cheap pints (£11.10 for Morretti & Neck oil), a lively atmosphere on a bank holiday Monday evening and a spacious, well appointed bar and beer garden, what more could you want from a pub? I came here during the Newcastle Liverpool game, and the pub had a partisan feel. Although Liverpool was more heavily represented, there was a contingent of Toon fans which had made a corner of the pub their own. There was advertising for an attached Thai restaurant. This was not open when I attended so I cannot speak for the quality of service or food. I will return and update this in the future

Definition of a great local's pub - pints are priced fairly, outdoor space front and back with heated booths for the colder nights - great bands every weekend and fantastic Thai kitchen with delicious authentic dishes - always showing the football - friendly staff - couldn't ask for more, a proper pub
