I visited this restaurant with my important coworker last night to celebrate her new position. I had a good impression of this restaurant from previous visits but they took care of us extra nicely this time. I believe that is because I gave a note when I made the reservation. They are true professionals and with or without reservation they are always trustworthy and provide amazing services. I love the staffs and photogenic/delicious foods and high quality wines here.

Had a lovely lunch at Mercado Central. Bit pricey but the ingredients used are quality and portions are not bad at all. The fried aubergines were lovely and crispy, sweet mussels escebache made in house, great onglet steak and I especially enjoyed the pan fried rainbow trout with piperade. Will come again to try the black rice and guinea fowl if still on the menu!

Being a Spanish woman living in England, I’ve always been a bit hesitant about visiting Spanish restaurants. I’m usually afraid they’ll fall short of the flavours I grew up with. But Mercado Central has genuinely changed my mind. The moment I tasted the gordal olives with that subtle kick of guindilla, I was transported straight back home. The smoked trout with dill had a flavour so close to what my mum used to make that for a moment I felt like a child again. And the octopus with those delicious potatoes? Okay food but over priced and not very imaginative. The food was pleasant, if a bit too vinegar-y. I'd have enjoyed it more if the mains were about £10 cheaper, and the starters a few pounds cheaper. We've been to many restaurants of comparable quality that are more value for money. Good awareness of gluten free, the vibes were lovely inside and the service was good. But, at the end of the day, it was nothing particularly special especially for the price charged.
