Ffwrnes Pizza in Cardiff Market is a cracking spot if you’re after proper Neapolitan-style pizza that doesn’t break the bank. Super easy to find too, come in through the fishmonger side, first set of stairs on your right and it’s right-hand side. Went for the classic Margherita because that’s the real test of a pizzeria, isn’t it? Came out looking the part, lovely leopard spotting, nice char, not so puffy cornicione but decent considering the overall size of pizza. This pizza stall is very popular on the first floor of Cardiff Market. When I visited around noon, there was already a queue, which shows how popular it is. They use a traditional brick oven, so the pizzas are freshly baked after you order. I tried the Fen Soz, Sobrasada, and Margherita, and all of them were excellent. The base was nicely chewy with a slightly crispy crust, giving the pizza a great texture. The portion size is just right for lunch – satisfying but not overly heavy. This review concerns the behaviour of a staff member at one of the stalls — I believe from the pizza brothers — during my recent visit. I politely asked about another food vendor on the same floor: the Polish pierogi place. As I hadn't visited before and was unfamiliar with the market layout, I was struggling to find it, having last enjoyed pierogi during my travels in Poland. I was told it was closed, which was perfectly fine. However, I was then grammatically corrected on my pronunciation by the staff member.
