Great place. Traditional, old school eatery that is unique and unfortunately very rare nowadays. Rare in the fact that it doesn't confirm to the homogenised dining experience places feel compelled to meet. It offers tasty, home cooked, quality unpretentious meals at affordable prices. There's also a HUGE selection that will meet almost anyone's needs. It has a 5 star food standard rating. I'll also personally give it 5 stars for customer service and 5 stars for the food. Always come to Pillars on our trips into Cardiff but I was really disappointed on this trip, waiting staff walking around aimlessly calling numbers, no real system to speak of. Received one meal 10 minutes before the rest even though we were asked if we wanted them all together, then one meal was wrong. We won't go into the food on the floor as if it were a Macdonald's. I know it was a busy day but there is no excuse for poor management of staff.

Avoid this place like the plague. Today I ordered two medium all-day breakfasts and a bacon and sausage roll with chips for me and my partner. We sat there sipping our teas — finished them completely — and still no sign of any food. When the plates finally arrived, it was obvious they’d used the cheapest, nastiest produce imaginable. Greasy, flavourless, poor quality everything — and the grease itself tasted like old fish grease, like they were frying in dirty oil that had already cooked fish. Absolutely disgusting. I really enjoyed the vibes of this restaurant. The decorations, the service, the food, all are so nostalgic. We got jacket potatoe and cottage pie and cheesecake. They all were good quality and the prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend it and I will go back again x
