Took my 9 year old daughter, unaware of the great special offer they had on. Kids, accompanying a paying adult, get a meal, drink and 2 scoops of ice cream for £1.99 We both got fish and chips, her portion was nearly as big as mine. My daughter got a gravy, I had bread and butter. The glass of blackcurrant juice she was served was massive. I got a coffee, it wasn't great, but was OK. All this came to an impressive £14.19 Even if the offer isn't on, I can see us returning at a later date. The bread was a little dry, but the fish was flaky with beautiful crispy batter. I was mindful of recent reviews of food and service but I tried anyway. Have had quite a few visits over the years and been very pleased. This visit was how I remember. Very good fish and chips and the service was excellent. Have no fear. Great. Food.

Really wanted fish and chips for tea. Our regular chippy was shut. Found Battyes open, never been in before. The chips were lovely, fish was well cooked. Really enjoyed them. Young lad behind the counter very pleasant.

Well cooked chips A goodly sized regular haddock with excellent light, crispy batter. Proper mushy peas. Devine dark fruity curry sauce. Steak pie was good too, really meaty - proper pastry.
