Better than our expectations of a cafe near to a very touristy street. The food and coffee they serve is very good. We chose some freshly made pride, which we were very happy with. The decoration and interior of the place feels a bit tacky and cheap, and the toilet is quite strange with the sink placed on top of it (last picture).

We ordered café latte, spinach cheese strudl and a chocolate muffin. It was a rainy on a summer evening so the outdoor was humid and the indoor was warm. So we preferred to sit outside. The food was good along with coffee. The service was good as well. Looks like the place is a happening one. As the café is pretty close to the royal mile, a bit of souvenir shopping can be covered too.

This place has such a unique location, tucked away just off the Royal Mile. We managed to find this spot just as the rain started and the temperature dropped—it was the perfect timing. The interior is incredible, with massive original stone walls and beautiful arched curves that make you feel like you’ve stepped into an ancient shelter. Under the warm yellow lights, the atmosphere is both private and cozy. We picked a spot near the fireplace, and it was the perfect place to recharge with some food and drinks during a cold, rainy Edinburgh day.

The Castle Rock Café in Edinburgh is the sort of place that instantly raises your coffee standards for life. The coffee is genuinely out of this world, rich, smooth and perfectly made, and the pastries are nothing short of spectacular. Flaky, fresh and completely irresistible, they are the kind of treats that disappear far quicker than you planned. It is also wonderfully dog friendly, which instantly earns bonus points. Four legged visitors are clearly just as welcome as humans, making it the perfect stop after a walk around the city. Our dog was just as happy as we were, which is always a go
