Fancied a Turkish experience. ‘Ada’ in South Street, Elgin satisfied the need. A modest starter of ‘Sucuk’ comprising succulent chargrilled spicy sausage on toasted sourdough bread with a garlicky sauce. Generous portion. Accompanied by draught Efes Turkish lager to quench a thirst. Main course - Lamb ‘Guvec’. A casserole of diced lamb and vegetables in a tasty gravy served with bread and rice. Lamb tender with some fat which adds flavour and also contains omega-3 fatty acids. Okay, there’s saturated fat too but I didn’t it it all and healthy enough in moderation. I’m a big fan of Turkish food having spent several months there. This was a disappointment especially considering I’m a restaurant/bar owner myself. Service - very transactional. No warmth from the Turkish owner despite attempts to engage. Very ‘is is what it is’ attitude Atmosphere - dated fading images of Turkey, Pammakule but ice cold beer as a bonus Food - no traditional Turkish bread. Instead slices of sourdough which really don’t make sense with hummus. Pretty small portion size for dishes costing £18-25. We ended up buying more food later that night.
