My partner and I recently visited Nero cafe in Huddersfield city centre and had a truly delightful experience. We both ordered decaf cortados, and the quality of the coffee was exceptional—rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced. What truly stood out during our visit, however, was the excellent service provided by Alex. From the moment we arrived, Alex was both friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome and well taken care of. I came into Nero today for my daily coffee fix or a reg cappuccino and I saw the “Trainee Barista” Kayleigh and the store manager Chris, both taking their own customers and I ended up being Kayleigh’s. Her coffee was that good, that I loved every sip of it. In my honest opinion, this drink is better than some of the ones with the black tops have served me. Black top pending????? :)

I wasn’t allowed to use my Vodafone rewards as advised by one of the ladies behind the counter (not sure whether she was the manager) that the scanner wasn’t working to accept the reward apparently? To be honest the lady didn’t make any sense and was waffling so sounded as though she was making it up. I have never had an issue in the past and even if the scanner wasn’t working, she still could have put it through the till as I still needed to pay for my drink. 1 star review – unfortunately I won’t be returning. The staff were rude, the tables were dirty, and when I politely asked a member of staff if someone could clean a table, I was met with a sigh and an eye roll. It made me feel like a real inconvenience. I ended up drinking my latte and leaving. I’ve noticed a lot of regular Nero customers going to the Costa Coffee shop across the street, and after this experience I can see why — I’m always treated much more warmly there. Sadly, I won’t be returning.
