Lovely restaurant with a beautiful interior and a really great atmosphere which I visit often. Some of the staff were attentive and friendly, and a special mention to Austin who took the time to chat with us and made us feel very welcome. That said, we were slightly underwhelmed when it came to celebrating my friend’s birthday. The staff brought out a plate with “Happy Birthday” written in chocolate sauce, but nothing else, no small dessert or gesture, which felt a bit awkward and a missed opportunity to make the occasion feel special. It's been a while since I have visited the Vines as we had become disillusioned with what they were offering. I am pleased to say the quality of the food and service was back to how we remember it originally. There was a large wedding party going on that had been a distraction to the level of service in recent visits. Not now. Excellent, friendly service that was exemplary. The only point of contention is the price of items, for example £17.50 for a Ceasar Chicken salad, how much can be charged for lettuce leaves and some chicken. This was our anniversary (and my birthday) meal out. For starters I had the Brixworth Pate which was nice and for mains had the Beef Sunday lunch meal. This had a good amount of vegetables on it but would've liked more roast potatoes though. Only thing that let it down slightly was the Yorkshire pudding which was a bit dry. For dessert I had the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. Very nice 😋 but a larger scoop of ice cream would've seemed more appropriate for the price you pay. Overall it was a pleasant experience and food.
