I hate to have to give three stars but I had no other choice. My sister and I came from about three hours away this Sunday just to eat the amazing fish we had heard about. We ordered the fish and it was just as amazing as we had heard. Massive portions and great service. We had multiple chapmans and it was just as great! Loved it. I also, ordered beef stew with fried yam to go with. Imagine my surprise seeing beef suya after travelling all the way back and expecting to properly enjoy my meal. I recently visited 042 Restaurant and was pleasantly surprised by the ambience, and especially the food. While the service could be a bit faster, the quality of the dishes made the wait worthwhile. The DJ did an excellent job — the music was spot on and catered beautifully to all ages and cultures. Kudos to him. That said, the venue could benefit from some renovation. Overall, it was a great experience, and I will definitely be visiting again soon.

Visited 042 Restaurant & Bar on a Friday night. I didn’t bother with the jollof as I’ve already tasted both Ghanaian and Nigerian jollof and there is no competition, so I went for the chicken starter with fried yam and fried plantain instead, plus a bottle of rosé. The total came to £53, with the rosé costing £25. The food portions were huge and definitely value for money as I couldn’t finish it all, although the food did take ages to arrive.
