TLDR: waited nearly 45 minutes for overpriced watery matcha, would not return 👍 I’ve been seeing TikToks about the Morning Cloud pop up at cog and wheel for months now, saving them and sending them to friends, itching to go to one of their “Beats n Buns” events with scran on the tyne. I LOVE matcha, I LOVE cinnamon rolls, and I’ve been looking forward to this for weeks!! I come here quite often and it’s easily one of my favourite places. Had the chicken roast on this visit and it was excellent – really well cooked, generous portions and full of flavour. Everything on the plate was spot on, and it’s exactly what you want from a proper roast. Finished with the sticky toffee pudding, which was rich, indulgent and really lovely. Went for bottomless brunch about a week ago and was not worth the £35 we paid. Cocktails tasted like premixed stuff and the options were limited. Food was terrible and also limited options once again. I got the chicken waffle and it was burnt. Classic Cog & Wheel was absolutely filling and tasty for the price of £9.50. I will definitely get this again if I come back. Dead man's Daiquiri was also a refreshing fruity drink (£8.30)to complement the meal. My friend ordered Fish & Chips, I took a small bite and found it flavourful unlike most places. So I highly recommend this place as it is a real value for money.
