Heartbreaking and deeply disappointing experience We held a wake here on 2nd of January, a day that was already incredibly painful for our family, and the way we were treated left us very upset. We paid £450 for the room and £420 for food for 30 people. We understood that numbers might vary on the day, and we never expected extravagance, only decency, care, and respect. My sister's 60th - secret to her - birthday party was held in the separate Jasmine Suite. This has its own entrance,bar and toilets.The wheelchair accessible entry is next to the car park. It also has a large patio area at the entrance - ideal for smokers/vapers or those wanting to enjoy some fresh air on a warm evening. The food selection was very good. As they knew it would be a mix of meat eaters and vegetarians they provided a great balance.Also done with style and imagination. So I had my mum's wake here earlier today. I booked the newly refurbished 'Jasmine Lounge' at a cost of £300. In addition, the 'per person' buffet was £10.95 - so in total, it cost me over £800. As mentioned, the room has recently been refurbished, but I would say it's not quite 100% finished. A couple of the tablecloths were a bit grubby look and one had a burn mark in it. We paid for 48 people (the room is meant to hold 60), but there were only 4 tables with 8 chairs on each, so I had to ask them to put out another table and more chairs for everyone. We hired one of the event rooms (the one at the front) for our engagement party. I have to say the pub was brilliant. We were allowed in our room early, to decorate for the occasion. We invited 65 people and the pub put on 3 bar staff, so nobody had long to wait for service. The food was lovely, we had the cheapest buffet (approx £14 a head), which was more than enough. We were also able to use the pub car park overnight, so no stress there. This place can only get better, as they are just completing hotel facilities at the back, so by then, will be able to offer the complete package. Thank yo
