The cafe is now under new ownership and Halal food is the only option. Which in it self is.not an issue but the NO PORK is ridiculous for a well-established established and loved greasy spoon. My wife ordered bacon and cheese omelette and not told its turkey bacon. I ordered bacon egg and chips and we were only told at that point. Such a shame, they have probably destroyed this cafe. I'm not going to be coming back and I would be very surprised if they are still trading in a year.

Well I don't know what happened today. The bacon wasn't real bacon. And the food wasn't great. Has it changed ownership? We always had good quality food here and today it wasn't nice at all. The woman serving is wanted to quible at me having a cold drink in the current weather situation. Wasnt verbalised. But facially. Face said it all.

I have been a regular customer of Mel’s Romford for a number of years, primarily for its traditional full English breakfast menu. Under the previous ownership, the quality was consistently good, particularly the proper pork bacon and sausages. Following the recent change in ownership, I visited again today and ordered one of the set menu breakfasts. The bacon and sausages served were noticeably different in both flavour and texture, lacking the expected fat filled taste. Took my father here today who is staying in the hospital for an extended period. What a great cafe. Food fresh and good, but more importantly is the way that Ruth is just *so* accommodating and helpful. If you have friends or relatives at Queen, get them off the ward and head here. You will not find a more welcoming reception.
