If you want to eat in, make sure that you can manage the steps. The fish n chips were decent enough, served in a canteen like room upstairs, order your food at the counter, they bring it up for you. The ‘canteen’ lacked atmosphere, there was no background music so conversation was at a whisper. We felt that circa £36 for fish n chips twice was expensive, we’ve had better for less money. I would go again but maybe takeaway as there are benches out front to use, probably work out cheaper too.

Just finished a fantastic dish of haddock and chips and thoroughly enjoyed it. The fish was fresh and excellent and the chips were outstanding too. There is a good variety and portions are plenty. They offer unlimited chips for those that are very hungry so don’t worry about going hungry. Service is friendly and helpful and overall a very good and happy visit. You can both dine in the restaurant or have it to take away so the choice is yours. Will definitely come back again and have some more when I am back again.

It’s a joint where you order downstairs and eat upstairs; we actually ordered and ate at the tavern next door since they had beers. The medium fish and chips were good, the fish had a crunchy, light batter and the chips were drizzled with vinegar and salt, yum!

I have on a number of occasions tried to be served here. I am a wheelchair user and as such cannot access the shop. I have gained staff attention and asked them to come down to me in fish row and serve me and take my order, paying cash. Every time they have refused to do so. YHIS IS EXTRA BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND IS DISCRIMINATORY. Previous owners have never had a problem but the current staff are appalling. They are saying that if you are in a wheelchair or ambulatory but can’t make the steps that we Stobys chip shop, do not want your custom. This makes me very angry.
