Finally got to try this lovely and well known neighbourhood bakery and coffee shop on the high road, so enticing with their array of fresh soughdough, loaves and bakes in the window. An absolutely delicious Apricot custard slice (danish), flaky and buttery, so generous in size I didn't think I could finish it but I did! The oat flat white was ok, shame they did not serve soy milk. Total was £8.85. Seating and ambience is no fuss, more like simple canteen like but it has a rustic charm about it. l used to be a very regular client of Black Bird when my son attended school in Streatham, there's about 4 years since he moved and I never came here again until today. I bought 4 sourdough breads which I absolutely love, I can't find a better sourdough nowhere else. I usually freeze them as soon as I arrive home, I take the slices I need 10 minutes before I eat them and they are exactly like the day I bought them, they can be freeze in the paper bag they come in. A great selection of food and drinks, I was happy to find pistachio croissants amongst their offerings and they do a very nice chai latte. They also do a nice spinach fritatta at lunch. It is quite pricey but of good quality and the portions are large. Worth a trip if you are in the area.
