It’s such a shame to see how far this place has fallen. The Castle used to be the place to go in Taunton. It had such a classy feeling inside, with A* service always guaranteed. Since they decided to shut the incredible Castle Bow, and lose the hidden second bar, the whole establishment is now a bit of a joke. Not sure what had happened to the family that used to run it, and I wonder if it’s been taken over - but it’s not a desirable place to go any more. Terrible food. The "goat's cheese" was a blend of cream cheese with a tiny bit of goat's cheese in it (allegedly). It just tasted like cream cheese. NO goat detectable. The monkfish was on a bed of BLAND boiled potatoes that weren't even salted. The sticky toffee pudding was like a (bad) microwave pudding from a supermarket. I left it after one bite. Waiters didn't notice or care. So BAD service too. RIPPED OFF!!!
