We popped into Iris in Wakefield for a meal before heading to the cinema, and it completely blew us away! The food here is an absolute work of art. We started with the Scotch eggs, which were cooked to absolute perfection with a beautifully runny yolk. For the mains, the risotto was incredibly flavorful and vibrant, and the steak was exceptionally tender and cooked exactly to our liking. You can really tell they care about using local, seasonal ingredients. The atmosphere inside is lovely and welcoming, making it the perfect spot for a date night. We still had plenty of time to relax and enjoy

I have used this venue for years and the food has never disappointed. Unfortunately the venue now needs an overdue deep clean / referb .In short it's looking tired,and gents toilet needs urgent attention ( my two most recent visits find areas " out of order") I fully understand the current market/ economy is very difficult but I'd hate to see such a lovely venue drop to.a level which doesn't reflect the quality of food produced

We loved this relaxed, welcoming place serving imaginative but comforting British cooking, with Yorkshire pride. Would return. Visited as a group of four with a booking. Greeted promptly and seated straight away. Service was friendly and attentive throughout, with staff checking in from time to time. I started with the beef crumpet, rich and savoury, then doubled down with the steak of the day (arrowhead cut). Most charming and attentive waiting staff, food is always immaculately cooked and presented, with flavour marriages to blow your mind, excellent wine list, all in a lovely warm, intimate ambiance. Modestly priced esp the 2/3 course set menus. Can't fault this lovely wee place, now a favourite of mine x
