It was a good different experience from all the mainstream restaurants, serving very similar flavors. This was little more edgy, delicious and fun. I wouldn’t recommend the soya chaap as the price point is too high for the portion size however the butter chicken wings were spectacular. The kurkure bhindi chaat was average. Overall the experience was good but something was still missing. I hope its even better the next time i visit. I really hope they can start serving authentic mumbai spicy chinese bhel.

Kanteen is a hidden gem we stumbled upon today. We realised it’s been there for 3 years now however we somehow missed it. Nevermind now we know. The place is quite welcoming,liked the vibe and the murals all over the place. The Food is definitely the highlight of this place. We tasted some authentic flavors of Indian food for the first in the UK in the last 20 yrs. And how authentic! The nagpur chicken was just top notch and so was the keema pav. It was my first time eating at Kanteen, and it definitely won’t be my last. The restaurant is very pretty and comfortable, everyone was extremely friendly and made me feel genuinely welcome. Every dish was 10/10, and although the portions are reasonably large, it was so good I finished it all and left with a huge stomach. I had the Railway Mutton Curry with Garlic Naan, Pulao Rice & Kurkure Bhindi Chaat - I am usually a bit on the fence about ordering Mutton as it can sometimes be chewy but it was tender and the flavours were like nothing else. Extremely poor experience. The portion size was unacceptable—barely a quarter of the container had food, and most of it was just oil. £11 for four small pieces of chicken is ridiculous and nowhere near good value. I have eaten at this restaurant dine-in before, where the portions were noticeably better, but takeaway orders are consistently much smaller. When I called to raise this, the response was blunt and dismissive: “this is the quantity.” No effort to resolve, no basic customer care. Avoid.
