We ate here on New Year’s Eve without a booking, and they still managed to squeeze us in — which was much appreciated. Definitely an under-appreciated little spot. Although we were tucked into a corner, the food and service were almost perfect. I may have gone a bit overboard with the number of small plates, but dish after dish impressed us both. The prawn tempura were lovely and crunchy, with beautifully tender prawns inside. The pork bao was incredible, with subtle hints of wasabi. For me though, the pork ribs were the star of the dinner — sweet, sticky, and falling straight off the bone. A

Came here for a birthday meal (group of 6). Overall, we found it below average and unfortunately wouldn't return. The interior was lovely (awkward seating at the table upstairs, trapped in by the window - had to ask the adjacent table to get in and out), but the service was quite slow, we were left waiting a long time for drinks and food. We enjoyed our meal at Uchi, having booked on the recommendation of a family member who knows how much we enjoy Japanese food. The restaurant is lovely, we sat upstairs near window and it was a great spot to enjoy the atmosphere. The staff were also fantastic, really friendly and attentive. There was a mishap involving a spilled drink on the table adjacent to us and the waitress handled it really well (so did the customer which was nice to see!). Food was good overall.
