I’ve visited this café before and really enjoyed it, so I’m not sure if today was just an off day. The dish I ordered is one I’ve had previously and loved, but this time the eggs were burnt underneath and still quite raw on top, and the avocado didn’t taste very fresh. The presentation looked great, but the overall quality wasn’t what I’d experienced here before. The atmosphere also didn’t feel particularly welcoming on this visit. It’s a shame as I know how good it can be, so hopefully this was just a one-off.

An amazing place to come and have great food, it's a very quaint and lovely independent cafe that delivers on quality and taste every time. It also offers the ultimate travel hack when staying at the Marriott across the road you can save on spending a lot for their breakfast and just pop across the road for an even better and tastier breakfast just 1 minute across the road. When I am back in York I definitely will be coming back!

I really enjoy visiting this lovely little cafe regularly with my family, baby son and our family dog. We are always made to feel welcome by the friendly team. The food and drinks are delicious and you can tell they are made with fresh high quality ingredients. A special’s board is regularly updated with a variety of different meals and drinks so there’s always lots of choice. I highly recommend cafe at no12, I’ve visited lots of cafe’s in York and this one is definitely one of my favourites!

Delicious gut-health friendly food. Lots of choice and home-baked treats (blackberry orange loaf perfect and not too sweet). Yummy avocado sourdough chilli toast with seeds and amazing grilled halloumi (perfectly cooked). Cater for vegans with oat milk alternative. Service by Katherine (the owner) and Jack was exceptional - very friendly, genuine and kind. Hope to visit again soon! Visited again 1 year later - just as great as we remember. Excellent service and the best coffee in town. Great to see the place is booming even more a year on!
