Despite its size, this brasserie felt intimate during evening dinner service. There is generous space between tables, giving each one a welcome sense of privacy. Service was fantastic and the food equally impressive. The Rise proved to be an ideal first-night dinner as we caught up with family. Our servers were attentive and personable throughout the evening. Fabulous! We dined on a the winter eclipse set menu. Just 3 dishes to choose from for each course which was perfect for us. Between our group we tried most menu items. Everything was beautifully presented, a decent portion size and tasted delicious. Service was fantastic, with very friendly and helpful staff from the welcome host, to our main server to the wine waiter Derek whose knowledge helped us pick just the right wines for our varied menu choices. We ate on a Saturday night so the atmosphere was buzzy, not too loud, just a really nice vibe. Highly recommend.

Me and my wife spent a brilliant evening at The Grand recently, enjoying a meal at The Rise which was a gift from my father. What a night it was. I don't use the word "phenomenal" lightly, but the service from the whole team was exactly that. Honestly, I couldn't fault a single thing. A special mention has to go to Keira—she’s a real credit to the business. She made us feel right at home and gave us the best service we’ve ever had. We spent a good four hours dining, and nothing was too much trouble for her, even with us ordering cocktails between courses! The food was spot on, too—beautiful

If you are looking for an exceptional culinary experience with impeccable service that goes well above and beyond, you must visit The Rise restaurant at The Grand, York. Last night I had the good fortune of being seated on the side of the restaurant serviced by Jack and Brianna. It’s difficult to recall ever being treated so specially and having enjoyed such a remarkable restaurant experience. Despite the restaurant being incredibly busy, the staff was fabulous. Upon being seated, I received the most genuine, attentive, and welcoming service from Jack, who was wonderfully assisted by Brianna.
