We made our first visit to Henry James BBQ and it's in an older part of town. It's an older restaurant so keep that in mind in regards to the atmosphere. The service is decent. There is no table service. It is counter service only. The food we came on a Tuesday night and evidently they only do the barbecue ribs. I want to say Thursday, Friday Saturday but we were not anywhere close so had to reconfigure what we were going to get as there was no way to prepare for this. This is this was my first time trying barbecue in Asheboro. This place was highly recommended. I would say the barbecue was pretty good. I did enjoy the hush puppies. What's the slowest law pretty basic it from any barbecue restaurant. I was pretty disappointed peach cobbler. I have to say the customer service from behind the counter was extremely poor. Almost to the point where you felt like you're bothering them to do their job. No eye contact no personality no have a nice night when you're leaving.

Food was lukewarm. Hush puppies were good flavor wise but vey greasy. Sweet tea is very sweet and comes by the gallon. Vinegar based coleslaw and bbq sauce. The bathroom floor was soaked when we first went in. It seemed like someone was mopping without ringing the water out of the mop before using it on the floor.

The best BBQ spot in Asheboro! Their bbq sauce is vinegar based and available in sweet or hot. I recommend their pulled pork plate and hush puppies (grab the honey butter cups by the condiment area up front!) and their cobblers and banana pudding. Overall reliable spot with good portion sizes, the service is quick and friendly too. The inside is spacious with lots of seating.
