I like the mix of authentic and inventive sushi. Their nigiri can hang with high end $$$ omakase places, and their creative rolls are super decadent. This is my favorite sushi place in the Portland area, and I once overheard the manager of the Ritz-Carlton give them an offer to move to Portland as the high end sushi option next to Ritz. Their version of the fried ama ebi head is my favorite of all sushi restaurants, and I've tried ones from master chefs who've trained under Jiro. Their anikimo is also my favorite out of all the others I've tried, even in Tokyo. We've come here multiple time

Overall, 4/5 stars. The fish was fresh, the menu was abundant, and we definitely found a few favorites. The garlic albacore hand roll was my personal favorite, but you can't go wrong with the otoro or waygu. In my opinion, if you're going to "sear" a fish, charcoal beats propane 9 times out of 10. You certainly get an overpowering propane taste with the seared items. I found the price to be 20-30% higher than other top end sushi places in the area, but the service was on point. Small place with only 7-8 tables for 4 or less parties inside. Atmosphere could use some feng-shui to make the price

Visited with my husband on Valentine's Day without a reservation. I've never worked as a sushi chef, but I have worked at a sushi restaurant in Japan. I'd recommend their tuna and grandma toro. We ordered 18 nigiri which cost us about $275. Was it worth the visit? I don't think so. We ordered at least 3 grandma toro and each time we got, it got smaller and smaller. They didn't sear the ingredients carefully; you can see from my pics that they were not seared evenly. Because I'm particular about food safety, it bothered me when I saw one of the chefs grabbed raw sliced beef and touched raw fish

The best sushi in Portland metro area! I feel like the price is totally justified. They've recently changed something with their rice and it falls apart a little bit. The fish quality is top tier and they're so good at pairing flavors together. They have also implemented ordering through your phone which makes things a lot easier. Also tried the chicken karaage and it was a huge portion for only $8.
