A quick stop at Hadley’s while working in the area turned out to be surprisingly satisfying. Their famous date shake was rich, cold, and exactly what you want when you need a quick pick-me-up. The turkey and bacon panini hit the mark too—warm, flavorful, and nicely balanced without feeling too heavy. For a fast, on-the-go meal, this visit delivered more than expected. Would I stop again? Heck yeah.

We stopped here thinking there would be a smoothie or fruit shake (like a Jamba or Robeks) but sadly no. They only had “date dairy shakes.” But to our surprise, the vegetarian sandwich was huge and delicious. Most places get it wrong and make a veggie sandwich with the same amount of vegetables as a meat sandwich—-sad. Hadley loaded it up! Very good value! Large assortment of drinks and snacks and random chotskies/gifts in the store. Makes a great stop before heading further into the high desert area.

If you on the road from LA to Arizona, this is a great place to stop and catch your breath. The orchard shop, not surprisingly from the name, deals in fruits, especially dried fruits, and nuts. This is a place to find some unusual varieties of nuts and dried fruits. The signature drink of Hadley's is the date shake. It is rich and potent, definitely worth a try, although ultimately it was a little too rich for my tastes, to be honest.
