The best Neapolitan pizza in the US (in my biased but tested opinion). I am obsessed with the pepperoni pizza (add arugula) at Antica. I am from the area and attended college at U of I, I moved away over ten years ago and this pizza is still #1 for me. I was prompted to write this review because Antica is the ex I can’t stop thinking about, the one that got away. I now live in Oregon and just tried Ken’s Artisan Pizza (a nationally ranked award winning pizza place) and I still rank Antica above it. I travel often, lived in major cities like Chicago, always looking for a Neapolitan style pizza

The atmosphere at the restaurant is very cozy and authentic. The service was so-so with the server regularly checking on the table; however, there were drink order mistakes and some glassware was dirty. Our main gripe is the gluten free alternative for their Diavola pizza. With no gf crust available the alternative is no crust. This results in a pizza that can only be compared to a salad that was charged at full price ($21). With a house salad costing only $10, charging $21 for a crustless pizza is very disappointing.

I ordered the Margherita pizza and it was a letdown from start to finish. The pizza was barely cooked, served lukewarm, and completely lacked depth of flavor. The crust and cheese looked pale, almost unfinished, and the overall bite was bland and forgettable. As someone who genuinely loves pizza, this felt like a missed opportunity. For a restaurant that promotes itself on using high-quality, fresh ingredients, the execution did not match the claim. With proper cooking and better seasoning, this pizza could improve, but as served, it seriously underperformed. 5/10.

Very soggy, raw dough, wasn't even hot when they brought it to us and we were literally one of two tables (the restaurant was empty, for good reason we found out). At points we were the only ones even in the restaurant as all the staff were in the back. Maybe this place was good at one point, but terrible first impression and we won't be back.
