Grumpy Gary’s is a cozy hideaway spot with a great happy hour. Good spot to meet locals, salty people (sailors and boat people), and to hear old stories. The staff is great, lighthearted energy and a perfect place to enjoy a meal— quickly or taking your time. One of my favorite spots on the water, great balance of price and quality food. It can be a bit grungy, but I think that’s part of its charm. Sit at the bar for specials on bites and solid drinks.

I had such a great experience at Grumpy Gary’s at Dockers! I visited for lunch around 11:30 a.m. on a holiday weekday with a friend. The website suggested making reservations (which was super easy to do online), though at that hour they weren’t really necessary. By the time we left around 1:30, the place was definitely starting to fill up—so it’s smart to reserve ahead, especially during busy times. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with friendly smiles and great service. The staff were welcoming, attentive, and made us feel right at home, which really set the tone for a relaxing

All indoor seating. One room is asking a canal and has a band Saturday evenings starting about 6:30 pm. There is another room but attached. We left before the band started so can't say how the sound would be. Wait staff was attentive and helpful. Went for the Grouper Reuben although I prefer it with cole slaw. It was quite good (although for the best, go to Monahan's in South County, RI). Be aware that they include the tip in the bill.
