First time having Illegal Pete’s since returning from Chicago! Really the warmest welcome and I felt all my nostalgia return from college days when I walked in. Brought my skateboard 🛹 and it was on the hottest of days! There’s a tall kind young man with the loveliest locs who just made me feel so safe offering me water to cool down and recommend the veggie bowl 🥣 made sure it was nicely packaged securely for my skate ride home. I went there with a group upon the group’s recommendation. They offer a limited mexican menu, mostly consisting of fast-food-style dishes. After waiting in line for about 10 minutes, I ordered the OGCB as a bowl, which they had recently added to their menu. My choice was tasty, and everyone in the group was satisfied with their meals. it is a self-service restaurant, collecting used trays and cleaning tables in the dining area is either not done or done very infrequently , we did not see it during our stay. Overall, it is a true value-for-money restaurant.

With less than 1.5 days in downtown Denver, I wanted to be selective about where to eat. That strategy doesn’t always work, but this time it went reasonably well at Illegal Pete's. I stopped in with about two hours to spare before my train. Even though I arrived just before noon, it took a little over 20 minutes in line to reach the register. Worst burrito I’ve had . I’m not one to call and complain but this was the worst . The burrito was all rice and a little sour cream holding it together . Was waiting and waiting to get a good bite . Ripped it in half and was nothing in it . Left details in the notes for sauces and stuff on the side didn’t even get them . Straight rice and sour cream and one black bean is crazy for 25 dollars . If you’re going to get Mexican or want anything good I’d stay away from this place . Been in the industry for a long time and never seen this before .
