Once inside, you immediately feel the authenticity at il Pizzico. The servers are not your 'summer help', but the owners and a wait staff with years of service at the restaurant, with impeccable timing and guidance on the menu and wine selections. The menu is organized in the traditional Italian manner Insalata/Secondi/Antipasti/La Pasta and sides. Selections are not your 'everyday' Italian, but each uniquely prepared. The tomato-based sauces vary from one dish to another. The pastas are divine. We've dined throughout the DC area for 40 years, across the country, in Northern Italy and Sicily

Been reading about Il Pizzico on "Best of Maryland" lists for quite some time, figured I was overdue for a visit. Reservations are necessary, and they have a smart casual dress code. We started with the Beef Carpaccio, which was melt in your mother delicious, and a daily special Cod Fritter with a lovely sauce. Our entrées were a Mushroom Ravioli with the most amazing creamy pistachio sauce, and the Rigatoni with mushrooms and sausage. The pasta was very fresh, clearly made in house. Was in town for work and this place was recommended to me by a local. I figured it would be good but no, it was the absolute best Italian food I’ve ever had in my life. The staff were attentive and sweet. The lighting was dim and cozy. It was packed but I was still seated quickly. I can’t wait to come back out to Maryland to eat here again! I’d say it’s even worth a drive from DC.
