What a hidden gem of the Midwest! Truly a must to go to when you are in Des Moines…and if you live in Des Moines go before it becomes crazy busy since it will as it is discovered! This place is 100% gluten free! They make everything homemade, even the tortillas are freshly made by someone’s abuelito! Grandma do those non Spanish speakers! The guacamole the cheese curds…the sweet potato taco the chicken tostadas were just amazing!!!!!!!! Let’s not get started on the elote and the hot churros made to order without any gluten mind you! An Apple butter sauce and a caramel sauce rock but that whipp

What a hidden gem! Happy Hour here is absolutely unbeatable. High quality, fresh, chef level cuisine at an affordable price. Presentation, variety, and execution were flawless. Not to mention the entire menu is Gluten Free! I ordered Maine Lobster Quesadilla, Braised Lamb Empanadas, & Seared Scallop Tacos for an insanely fair cost of $20 during their 3-5pm Happy Hour! Tacos $7, Tapas (savory dishes) $6, and Botanas (snacks/sides) $5 are reduced. My total was supposed to be $45 so this is a crazy deal. The servers were friendly and helpful. The entire menu being gluten free was very reassuring for one of my friends. They also were very receptive to other allergies we mentioned, and made the effort to to confirm food we ordered would not contain the allergens. I ordered the fish tacos, and t

Bar Nico had a couple of very nice appetizers and two very good drinks. I tried the Ceviche Sangria and Nico Chip and Salsa appetizers. The ceviche had a very nice spicy heat to it and some other nice flavors to go along with it. The chips and salsa came out warm with four different types of salsa. All the salsas had a nice taste. I did however end up mixing the salsas together. 😁. I also tried the smokey old fashioned and the pineapple margarita. Both drinks had great flavor and the old fashioned even had a bite. Nice job.
