Great atmosphere and decent service, but food was severely lacking and an overall disappointment, tbh. The Scottish Egg didn't seem to be pickled, under the sausage and breading, as every other Scottish Egg I've ever had, has been. The cheddar cheese was also a bit off-putting. What's worse though, is the fact that we were drawn there, over ALL other options downtown, specifically for their Reuben Springrolls. 😞 I could be wrong, but there didnt seem to be ANY Swiss Cheese included, but if so, it was barely noticeable. And though the sauerkraut was decent, though very little, the 'corned be

Dinner at the Royal Mile before a show. The Fish and Chips were recommended and decided to give it a try. The fish is very good flaky cod and the ends were crispy and good. The center was very oily and the breading fell off. I feel like if they did smaller pieces it would be better. I like crispy, flaky, with minimal grease. I want the breading to stay with the fish and this just didn’t check those boxes. It just wasn’t the best I have had, good, but not great. Comparing to The Bank in Ireland it just didn’t hit. For an English Place I really wish they also had traditional mushy peas which ar

Have been to this hidden gem a few times. Nothing in Des Moines comes close to the quality and value of the food, comfort and service. I suggest the popular fish&chips or my new favorite the build your own mac&cheese loaded with corned beef and bangers. If the weather is nice do not skip the patio for an extra experience. Plenty of street parking and parking garages near by .

Came in on a recommendation when in town for a conference and brought 7 friends with me. I called ahead for a reservation and was told one wasn't needed. We wound up with a perfectly fine table right in the bar area. Appetizers were all quite good. The consensus at the table was that the Reuben egg rolls may have been the most unique and the most tasty of the bunch. For dinner I had their Steak & Guinness pie for dinner. Basically a pot pie but a bit more. The steak was fully cooked but still tender. Nice vege and a hearty gravy combined with a flaky crust to create a plate of deliciousness.
