I hadn’t been to Silver Diner in probably 15–20 years, and I always thought of diner food as pretty standard and nothing too exciting. This visit definitely changed my impression. I was in Rio and was intrigued by the picture of the rosemary lamb chops, and they ended up being the highlight of the meal. The flavors were much more complex than I expected, with a really nice contrast from the pomegranates, and the mint pesto was so good with the lamb. We went for a late lunch at the Silver Diner in the Rio complex in Gaithersburg. It had been a long time since our last visit, and I must say we weren't disappointed. Good food, good coffee (not just coffee-colored water), and good service. What a difference compared to that place in Crown that serves all-day breakfast! Here, you can really sense and appreciate the effort and hard work that both the staff and the manager put into providing great service and building customer loyalty. Keep it up, guys! Stopped into the Silver Diner on Washingtonian Blvd in Gaithersburg today. Brought a co-worker along who'd never been to one. I've been to several locations across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. This one stands apart. Wilfredo handled our order with the kind of ease that only comes from actually caring about the work. Nelcy stopped by too, unprompted. Update (6/17/26)- I’ve been back to this location twice since my original post, and the service has been great on both occasions, but today was absolutely phenomenal! The food is always spectacular, but my server Tia was just wonderful, and the manager Brian, was outstanding as well! I’m happy to admit when I was wrong, and this is definitely a 5-Star location!!
