I work locally and go to City Place Cafe every day. They make everything in house. They roast their own chicken for their sandwiches ( not the gross premade stuff). Soups are homemade. Salads are great. Service is friendly and you are greeted by your name every time you come in. Love supporting a local family business. They even made a proper cafe! 🎉

The food is delicious!! I'm upset we didn't go to this place before because their breakfasts are amazing. I can tell many locals go there because the owner knows almost everyone by first name. The rest of the staff was super nice and friendly. This is a true gem in the city. A little small, but it's suited for a quick breakfast or pick-up order.

1st lunch meal in DC - was ordering when the owner spoke up and assisted my teenage son in SUCH a nice, pleasant manner! Food was delicious, frsh and flavorful. Bread is baked daily. Soups and chili made fresh daily! And you can really taste the difference. Real. Fresh. Tasty. And very reasonably priced too! Jawad - Well done sir! Very well done. And thank you for your outstanding hospitality. 5 stars and my highest recommendation for a casual lunch.

City Place Cafe was a pleasant surprise for breakfast. The prices were very reasonable, which is getting harder to find these days. My son ordered the breakfast burrito for about $10, and it was huge—easily one of the larger breakfast burritos we’ve seen at that price. More importantly, he said it was very good. If you’re looking for a casual spot with solid portions and fair prices, it’s definitely worth stopping in.
