I’m from Wayne county and we stopped by for Breakfast while visiting. The Lantern Inn is one of the most consistent breakfast spots in Goldsboro. It is also very affordable. Now that I live in a larger city I can’t say enough about how aggravating it is to get a well cooked basic affordable breakfast amongst people who just came out to eat! The specialty coffee drinks were well made and priced just right. The wait time is short and you can be in and out in less than an hour. My only small complaint would be the Mickey Mouse pancakes were not shaped well. Otherwise, we will continue to patroniz

Lantern Inn is a staple in Goldsboro. I grew up in Goldsboro and back then L.I. was considered a mid-upper level restaurant. The problem now is it doesn't appear to have been updated since the 80's! It needs a major makeover/renovation. The service started out rough. Our server had a major attitude in the beginning of our visit. Not sure if it's because I asked for the floor to be swept and tables wiped down or if she didn't want us seated in the sun room at the final hour of brunch. Lantern Inn is a classic Goldsboro spot. I much prefer going here over diner chains. Menu recommendations: Fried pork loin biscuit, chicken and waffles (but add honey, butter and hot sauce), or roast beef sandwich! Yum! If you dine in, you’ll be surrounded by plenty of wisdom (a nice way to say the clientele is old)! The servers are wonderful, and the kitchen staff hustles so hard to keep food consistent and served quickly. I appreciate all of the hard work it takes to keep this institution running!

Lantern Inn is THE spot. Their pancakes are amazing (and I hardcore judge pancakes 😂). They have sausage LINKS, which are also great. And get the biscuit - I guarantee it'll be the best one you've ever had. 😍 service is always super sweet and the pricing is very affordable, which definitely keeps me coming back.
