Back in 1983, a young dreamer from Hamilton, Ohio - Harold E. Sparks - traded in his steady job at General Motors for something far juicier: his own soul food restaurant in sunny Inglewood, California. His vision? To serve up love at first bite and create a space where everyone feels like family. And just like that, The Serving Spoon was born - a place where comfort food meets community spirit.

Being a Chef myself I’m very very picky and I don’t eat anyone else’s cooking if I don’t have to but Here I’m never disappointed! Customer service is always good! It’s always packed and a wait but it’s never a long crazy wait! Food always good and em Turkey Chops be hitting! I love that it’s Family owned and I love to see all the young people working and earning their way ☺️ I’m in the mist of relocating to the area so I’ll be back even more now and I’m definitely looking forward to it! I ordered the catfish with collard greens, black eyed peas, and cornbread. The fish and sides were delicious. The cornbread decent. It was my second time eating there and it was just as satisfying as my first trip. I wholeheartedly recommend people give it try.
