Stopped by Merchants Pub & Plate while in Lawrence for an event and was excited to find a place with good gluten-free options. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside — a cozy mix of rustic and modern that creates a really inviting atmosphere. Service started a little slow, though our waitress became more attentive once she came by. If you're reading this, stop reading. And go eat here! If you have celiac disease or food sensitivities, this is your spot. They proudly told us they transitioned all their fryers to be celiac-safe this year, and their protocols for preventing cross-contamination are excellent. The service is fantastic; our waitress was well-informed and happy to double-check ingredients with the kitchen. They even caught a corn-based ingredient in my sauce and remade my meal before it hit the table (I avoid corn). This place was a surprising gem. My girlfriend has many food restrictions, and Merchants was able to accommodate these restrictions with a huge selection of dairy-free, gluten-free, celiac options. The service was perfect. We will definitely be back.
