I’ve been coming to China Buffet in Lowell for years and have always enjoyed it. The food is consistently good, and while the service can feel rushed with servers frequently checking if you’re all set, it’s never bothered me since I’m used to it. However, during my most recent visit, I witnessed something that really changed how I feel about eating here. Standard fare Chinese buffet. Food was fine for a buffet. They charge a mandatory 15% tip making the one person dinner weeknight dinner price exactly $25.61 without a drink. Probably a little steep for what you get.

The food itself was decent and the flavor was nice enough. My main problem was that the hot food wasn’t even warm. It was lukewarm at best, and by the time I got back to my seat most of it was cold. If the food was actually warm I think it would have tasted better, but as is it was kind of disappointing. The vegetable spring rolls were quite nice, but those were about the only fried food that was actually crispy. There was also this weird chalkiness to the underside of the plates that felt kind of unpleasant. Service was pleasant enough, but I really didn’t talk much. Overall…eh it’s ok. Wo

Food didn’t taste like much. There weren’t many selections when it came to sushi, same ingredients were recycled. A tip for the waitress - a please, thank you and excuse me goes a long way. There were ice cream flavors that they dumped on top of others. Food was cold and wasn’t worth the price. On a positive note, the wings were good!
