Justin McAfee★★★There's a version of Global Cafe that could be genuinely exciting. A food hall inside a rehabilitated Sears distribution center, just minutes from Rhodes College, serving Venezuelan street food, Kenyan coastal cooking, and Middle Eastern shawarma — all under one roof in a city with Memphis's cultural depth. The bones of that place exist here. The execution tells you exactly who it was built for. Walk in and you'll find terracotta-red counter stools, copper pendant lights, a well-stocked bar backlit like a boutique hotel, and a hand-lettered "ORDER HERE" sign that works very hard to feel casua
G C★★★While I can appreciate their food being prepared fresh, and their advertised fair wages for employees, $17.55 for a burrito ONLY is quite the stretch. Christian Kling★★★★★Incredible food. Was so fast I couldn’t believe it. Very obviously authentic international food, the entire kitchen is visible through glass. All the cooks are amazing. They have a small bar with a few cool craft beers, and a nice selections of artistic cocktails.
Anurag Saroha★Global Café at Crosstown managed to do the impossible: serve shawarma that was an insult to the word “shawarma.” Two orders came out as gravy-soaked chicken dumped on pita, like someone skimmed a definition once and said, “Yeah, close enough.” The burrito, asado bowl, and fajita de pollo all tasted like they’d been carefully engineered to meet the legal minimum requirement for “flavor.” The nachos were so bland that the random jazzy spice mix sprinkled on top felt more like confetti at a funeral for taste buds than actual seasoning. One star, only because zero isn’t an option. Great venue,
