Blue Barn in Novato is one of those places I keep coming back to and I always end up ordering the Northern Fry with crispy tater tots and a side of their amazing ranch. You know that ranch that just hits the spot? This is it. Creamy, tangy, and totally addictive. The menu is packed with fresh, locally sourced options. Unfortunately need to write this review as they are using canola oil not only to fry but also in their salad dressing. For a restaurant that prides itself in ingredients and charges such premium prices, we should expect more. Also, the wait was exceptionally long despite not being busy. Bummed that the places you think you can trust to care about quality and providing nourishing meals to the community are cutting corners like this! Also pieces of wilted / older tasting lettuce the last few times I've been in. Do better, Blue Barn! We want to love you.

The detox salad with grilled chicken was very good. I wasn't a fan of the dressing though, it was very oily. I got it on the side and only used it sparingly. The ingredients was all so good I didn't really need it anyway. The tater tots are nice and crisp. There is a very large back patio with umbrellas.

I’m not usually one to complain but this is not close to medium rare… I took it back to have it remade and the workers response was to suggest I get it well done next time?? I will acknowledge that they did provide a replacement a fresh one.
