Im 100% a foodie, and I don’t leave reviews, but the shredded beef burrito was incredible. I got it to go and it still came with all the sauces which were all incredible and grilled onion and peppers. This quickly became my favorite burrito in the KC metro. I will be back very soon. We'd eaten from the food truck before they became a sit down restaurant and remembered it was good. This was our first time going in and sitting down. Upon arriving, we were the only people there at 2pm-ish. Right off the bat, the music was pretty loud, though we could still talk without much effort. Our waiter was attentive. I wanted so badly to like this restaurant based off of their menu, but I just didn’t. It started with the cheese dip. You pay $6 for a tiny bowl that’s barely big enough for one person. I ordered the quesabirria tacos and I liked them okay but the fajitas were simply not good. I am used to fajitas that are heavy on the meat with veggies added in, but their fajitas were essentially a bed of onions with literally 6strips of meat placed across the top. This is my absolute favorite Mexican food place. The asada tacos are second to none and they always include Chiles toreados which is my favorite part of the meal. Some places don't do spicy salsa well but tacos el viejon does it really well. Their rice is excellent too. The staff is always nice and welcoming and the atmosphere is super chill. If you want good mexican good this place is legit.
