Tricky Fish did not disappoint! We started with broiled oysters that were absolutely delicious, and the shrimp and crab bisque was rich and satisfying. For our mains, we each ordered the fried catfish and shrimp platter, which came with well-seasoned fries and a decent coleslaw. The ingredients were super fresh and everything was well-seasoned in my opinion — my fiancé felt the catfish could’ve used a bit more seasoning (he’s a big fan of Aunt Irene’s heavily seasoned style), but agreed the quality and freshness were on point. I would like to share my experience at this location… I used to come here every now and then about 3 years ago but this was my first time back since… and man has this joint gone downhill … I mean terrible idk if it’s the new management or what … or maybe just the cook… but who ever they got back in the kitchen really turned this experience upside.. my significant other and I came here very hungry around 2pm on a Saturday… the spot was not full at all, we got seated immediately and our waiter was very sweet he was the best part of our experience. After a busy day, hubby was in the mood for something different. So we decided to try Tricky Fish. We were very fortunate to find parking spaces right in front of Tricky Fish. Of note, street parking has a two-hour time limit. Staff greeted us upon entry and were very friendly. There were Mardi Gras decorations throughout the restaurant. Overall, every dish we tried was flavorful with good portion sizes. My favorite was the crabcake slaw, hubby really loved his etouffee, and our daughter coveted the crabcakes. Hubby ordered the apple cheesecake and thought it was pretty yummy.

I visited Tricky Fish for the first time on February 21, 2026 upon recommendations. It was early evening and not crowded. I seated myself at the bar and proceeded to wait for the bartender (Junior) to finish a conversation with another employee to come over and welcome me. It took at least 3-5 minutes for that to happen. I ordered a cocktail and it was very good. We were off to a good start. I knew I wanted crawfish and asked Junior a question about the level of the spice of the seasoning. He replied "I don't know" and did not offer any other recommendations or advice.
