I don’t eat meat and usually don’t like Mexican food, but my husband convinced me to try Cantina Jack's. What caught my attention was a fruit salad on the menu with pineapple, watermelon, cucumber, mint, and other fresh fruits. That’s the main reason I agreed to go, since I thought I could enjoy the fruit salad while my husband had his meat tacos. When we sat down, I showed the waitress the fruit salad from the picture, but unfortunately they told me they no longer serve it. Went here for a retirement party of a beloved coworker. The only negative, which was small is that Google maps took me to the backside of the building to park, which caused a much longer walk for me and my buddy, the walker. Came during happy hour, so it was budget friendly(er). 16 oz. frozen strawberry margarita was 11 dollars. Slightly disappointed that I couldn't get happy hour food prices to-go for wifey. This place has a cool vibe and atmosphere. Good menu selection and very reasonable prices. Large separate menu for cocktails, margaritas, etc. We got our food fast and it was delicious. Great service as well. Definitely will go back!

So how many Jack places are there? I’m not sure but it feels like every place in Pleasant Hill has a Jack in the name. This particular place is called Cantina Jacks and although my wife doesn’t think it’s great, I find the food to be super good. Now, my wife is a vegetarian and she finds the menu to be quite limiting, which is unusual for a Mexican restaurant. Then again, finding vegetarian dishes can be challenging in many places so Jacks isn’t so different in that way. It’s loud here and there is a focus on the bar though again, bars are common in many places. Am I living counter cul
