Great Business Dinner Spot with Strong Food, Cocktails, and Service J. Alexander’s in Northbrook was a great choice for a business dinner with clients and colleagues. We started with shared appetizers, including the deviled eggs and shrimp, both of which were very good. I also ordered a “side salad,” which turned out to be huge, but it was fresh, tasty, and exactly what I was looking for. For dinner, I had the sea mullet, which was a generous portion, well-seasoned, and really enjoyable — so much so that I couldn’t finish it. The cocktails were also well-made and pleasantly strong. Sat at the bar last night and Noah was our server. He was on top of everything, refills, great drinks, delicious food. He was a really nice casual guy, which we appreciated in a higher end kind of place. Very personable and hard worker. The bar was busy and he still made sure we were always taken care of. The crab cakes were nice and meaty with a really great sauce to dip in. I had the filet kabob and it was super tender and juicy, no fat, no grissle, cooked perfectly. Came to grab dinner with some family, service and food were great! Minor complaint is the booths and seats are very low to the ground which is fine for most people but can cause problems for people with mobility problems. I had the salmon burger and it really hit the spot! Good portions and I had the smashed potatoes as my side and they were very tasty!
