I want to tell you about this marvelous experience that we had today. In searching for a coffee place close to our hotel we discovered kapej. Instead of our standards we opted for their cafe de olla, mine straight, black, and Irene’s with almond milk. Both excellent and highly recommended. The introduction of star anise in the recipe, big thumbs up. As was the delicious cinnamon roll. But the highlights: the wonderful staff and conversation and meeting Rudy, who was the creator of their local beverages, discovering that he offered a cold beverage called Tepache. Similar in “fizz” to kombucha

I really love this place. I took myself here for a little morning matcha and a breakfast sandwich and it did not disappoint. The matcha was really delicious (I got mine iced) and a breakfast sandwich which was absolutely divine. I added bacon to it and got the barbecue mayo on the side just in case I didn’t like it, but I ended up loving it, so I’ll definitely put it on the sandwich next time! Finally made it to Kapej this morning and it lived up to all the hype! ☕✨ Such a sweet, cozy atmosphere—perfect for a solo trip or a coffee date. I tried the iced Dulce de Leche Latte (so delicious!) and grabbed a drip coffee for my dad. The service from the ladies there was just as sweet as the drinks. Definitely coming back for their horchata and a sandwich next time. If you haven’t been yet, this downtown gem is a must-visit!
