This is a tricky one. You do not go to the Broiler Express for mind-blowing food, something that you have never tasted. Rather, you go to Broiler Express for the speed and the consistency. It is like a kitchen for the everyday hungry. It is fast. It is diverse yet consistent. And it is good food. Not great. But good. All the time. If there was ever a diner and a cafeteria mashed up together serving the everyday working class, blue-collar... Broiler Express is it. We are surprised to see a diner like Broiler Express in Laurel St., San Carlos. It does not feel like it belongs there - not fancy,

Many if my neighbors have emotional attachment to this place, but I really don't like the food. I've explored their breakfast menu over the years and never liked anything. They were greasy, salty and poor quality. This time I tried their new dish, egg Benedict with country potatoes, and it's still wrong. Too much Hollandaise, too salty, and too greasy. And the smoothie was too sweet. I won't go there again.

Comfortable, easy going, and relaxed atmosphere. With very reasonably priced, food options. Somewhat of a throwback to a 50s or 60s diner. Some outdoor seating on the side street. My friends and I visited at dinner time.
