Don’t miss this it’s a gem!!! The mine has so much you will never be dissatisfied. The prices are super low and the offerings are so complete no one wouldn’t find something to eat. The atmosphere is calming and relaxing, kid friendly. Cash only but the atmosphere fee is 3$ it’s very fair. They have wonderful local performers stop in and they have an event cleanser each month for the times. Seriously take it from a local that discovered this place in 2026. It’s soooooooooo goood I feel bad I missed the years before now

So friendly and so much to look at! A very eclectic place with all kinds of art and games and posters and little things to find. Our order was taken by the very friendly owner who also did all the cooking. The food was really tasty, spiced perfectly, and vegan or whatever level of vegetarian or not that you prefer. I had eggs while my boyfriend had a chickpea egg substitute that was pretty good (we are not vegan so it was a new thing for us to try). 19 years, that's how long the Moon and River Cafe has been gracing Schenectady and I never knew it. With the most affordable food in the capital district, one of the most personable and unique owners, an array of live music and a wonderful local clientele I'm almost scared to let others know about this diamond in the rough out of fear it becomes overcrowded.
