Tara Kitchen has been on my radar for a while now and I finally made it into thier Schenectady location last night. The food was amazing! Everything I had was flavorful and fresh and delicious. I stated with the Zaalouk and Maqooda and had the lamb M’Rouzia as my main dish. The meat was super tender and flavorful, but honestly I would have expected to have had more of it for the price. My only other critique was the inconsistency of the service provided. Our group of five came to Tara Kitchen after a performance at SLOC. Everything about our dinner was lovely. We shared 2 different appitizers. Everyone agreed that the patato cakes were outstanding. We all ordered different dishes so we could try many different tastes. Especially good were both the lamb and chicken with honey, apricots, and prunes. The spicy fig and chicken was delicious also and the fish is always excellant. Their special mint tea and baklava rounded out a truely memorable meal.

This place is so good! We sat near the kitchen and had the privilege of watching the chef prepare our meals. My chicken tikka masala was so buttery and warm, the flavors exploding in a comforting, creamy heat with every bite. My friend's M'rouzia looked and smelled incredible, and the bite of lamb I tasted was so tender and delicious. I'll definitely be returning. There are so many things on this menu I want to try!

They were a bit busy and somewhat understaffed on the Thursday night before Proctor’s. We sat first at the bar but stayed there when a table became available because it was so fun to watch the host and the chef working full-blast but with delightful spirit and talent. Soon two young women (relatives of the owners) came in and they were very charming and hard working too. We hadn’t been in a long time, and we’re sorry we missed the experience in the interim. We will be back soon.
