I kept hearing my friends rave about Yafa and finally decided I needed to see what all the buzz was about. This cozy Yemeni gem in Sunset Park absolutely blew me away. I stopped in for breakfast and ordered the shakshuka and a latte, and I’m so glad I did. The latte was spot on – smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. The shakshuka was the real standout: a bright burst of flavor with three perfectly poached eggs nestled in a fragrant, deeply seasoned tomato and pepper sauce. Truly a fantastic experience! After a frosty commute, I began warming up with a hearty cup of Qishr tea. After sometime, I ordered one of the best, tasty sandwiches I’ve had since the womb, an experience I won’t ever have until the hereafter. I visited this spot expecting a great experience, and while it was okay, it just did not quite blow me away like I had hoped. The atmosphere is pretty cozy and it is a decent place to sit down for a while if you need a quiet corner. I found the service to be a bit hit or miss, and the quality of my drink was just average compared to some of the other coffee shops I have visited across the country. It is a fine neighborhood option if you are in the area, but I would not necessarily go out of my way to make it a regular stop.
